Community Outreach
Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate actively seeks and participates in community outreach programs. Situated a short distance from our Nation’s capital, NVESD receives and accommodates frequent requests from organized groups with technological and engineering concentrations. With multiple labs, and over 500 employees, NVESD houses a true research and development facility.
In addition to on-site events, NVESD participates in multiple off-site events each year, including high school robotics competitions, science fairs, Public Service exhibits, and sporting events.
National Security Scholars Experience the Technological Side of Defense at NVESD
The National Security Scholars from the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF), eager to continue their exploration of American diplomacy, national security, intelligence, and defense, arrived at Gelini Gate in their finest business attire on a bus from Washington, D.C., poised for an introduction to the defense technology developed at the US Army RDECOM CERDEC Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD). Presidential Classroom Visits NVESD
On 3 March 2009, students from the Presidential Classroom visited the US Army RDECOM CERDEC Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD). Presidential Classroom is a non-profit organization that provides the highest quality civic education programs for outstanding high school students from all over the nation. US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), Communications Electronics Research Development Center (CERDEC), Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) sponsors FIRST Robotics Team consisting of 25 students, nine of which were returning from last year.
